Community Fridge Initiative
Help Us Help Your Community
The Community Refrigerator Project began in 2020 in Brooklyn, NY, and gained momentum as communities across the country saw a need to rescue soon-to-expire food and keep everyone fed. AjMadison has pledged to deliver 100 refrigerators to support local Community Fridge programs. We donate fully functional scratch-and-dent fridges. This effort will repurpose unsalable refrigerators destined for the landfill, and give more communities a chance to reduce hunger. If you know a community in need spread the word and follow the link below to request a refrigerator today!

Habitat for Humanity
Transforms Lives & Communities
Every year AjMadison donates ‘scratch and dent’ appliances to the Habitat for Humanity Restore in New York City. All donated appliances are unused yet come from a variety of sources. Most are out of the box, customer returns, lite surface scratches, dented doors, wrong color purchased, wrong hinge ordered, and discontinued floor models. The Habitat for Humanity’s NYC ReStore sells home products to the public with proceeds benefitting Habitat NYC’s mission: to transform lives and communities by building and preserving quality, affordable homes for families in need.

Renovation Angel
Renovate Responsibly
AjMadison is a premier recycling partner to Renovation Angel, North America's preferred luxury donation program for kitchens, home décor, and other high-end renovation items. Consumers who recycle their qualified luxury kitchens can receive thousands in tax and removal savings. The preservation and repurposing creates a circular economy for renovating responsibly. Recycling complete kitchens diverts millions of pounds from landfills. Renovation Angel offers complimentary white-glove removal, packing, and transport of luxury kitchens.
ENERGY STAR APPLIANCES
Many utility companies offer rebates to recycle and/or replace your old appliances with Energy Star appliances. If your old appliances are energy star rated, consider donating them to benefit a local family or business in need. Check with your local utility company. Some utility companies offer haul-away rebates, credits, and even accept donations. To see what rebates are available for your area visit the Energy Star rebate finder.

Why Buy Energy Star Appliances?
ENERGYSTAR ® products can be identified by the energy star label. This label will tell you a product's energy consumption and approximate cost for your utility bills. Smart and wi-fi connected appliances also offer some energy and cost-saving benefits! Upgrading your appliances is a great investment for your family and your future. Protect your favorite clothes and use less water with a new high-efficiency washing machine, schedule your air conditioner to keep you comfortable and save energy when you’re not home, and use your smart refrigerator and cooking appliances intelligently to reduce food waste. With smart energy-efficient appliances you will have a better cooking experience, minimize your impact on the environment, and save money. You can save up to 30% on related electricity bills with energy-efficient appliances.

WASHERS & DRYERS
Here are some great tips for operating your washer and dryer efficiently.
Clothes washers use about the same amount of energy regardless of the size of the load, so run full loads whenever possible. Since water heating consumes about 90% of the energy it takes to operate a clothes washer, wash your clothes in cold water. When operating your washer, it’s best to always use HE detergent. Regular detergent creates too many suds, which will affect the machine’s washing and rinsing performance.
Clothes dryers use more energy than any other household appliance, contributing to higher energy bills and unwanted carbon pollution. If your washer has spin options, choose a fast spin speed to reduce the amount of remaining moisture in your clothes after washing. This decreases the amount of time it takes to dry your clothes. Where and when possible, air-drying clothes instead of using a dryer not only saves energy but will help them last longer.

ENERGY STAR® is the government-backed symbol for energy efficiency. Appliances with an Energy Star rating are tested to meet current energy efficiency standards. ENERGY STAR-rated appliances consume less power and resources, saving you money and the environment. Replacing old appliances with newer and more efficient models is a great way to save money over time. You will also enjoy the exciting new features and performance of today’s most energy-efficient appliances. Why should you buy energy-efficient appliances? ENERGY STAR appliances will save you money and protect the environment. If you’re looking to find ways to reduce your environmental impact, replacing old appliances with newer and more efficient ones is one approach that will reduce power consumption. Energy-efficient appliances will also save you money on your monthly electricity bill. For nearly three decades, ENERGY STAR and its partners helped American families and businesses save more than 4 trillion kilowatt-hours of electricity and achieve over 3.5 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas reductions, equivalent to the annual emissions of more than 750 million cars. The key takeaway is that any appliance with the Energy Star logo has passed a set of standards that make it consume less electricity and other resources. The absolute best way to begin your search for a new appliance is to narrow your selection down to only Energy Star-rated products. All Energy Star products will carry an EnergyGuide label, which will show you the estimated yearly electricity use as well as the yearly energy cost. Finding your preferred energy-efficient product can be as simple as comparing yearly energy costs.
