This is my second Kitchenaid disposal and since the first one worked formore than 10 years, I'm counting on this one to do the same.
The disposal was making sounds like grinding metal and finally quit running. I hit the reset button and used the manual crank, but all I got was a humming sound. Then I removed the disposal to get a better look inside and found a nearly worn out dime lodged inside. After removing the dime the disposal works fine, demonstrating its durability.
This disposer was a replacement of an older Kitchen Aid unit which had developed a leak. It was a little more challenging to install this unit but it works well. I actually used a jack to get it tight enough to allow engagement with the cam lock feature.
