Energy Star appliances include clothes washers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners. Certain appliances, like ranges and dryers, are not Energy Star-certified because they consume large amounts of energy. In addition to Energy Star qualifications, these appliances are also rated by the CEE (the Consortium for Energy Efficiency) and assigned to energy tiers. All you need to know is the higher the tier, the more efficient the appliance and more money and energy you save.
