Don't know WHAT Muffinman is using - but it's not the GE Monogram!!!
I have had the Mongram for over 4 years - never ANY problem. All burners adjust from next to nothing (the best I have seen for simmer) to more than hot enough for anything I have ever wanted to do. In fact I almost NEVER use full heat except to boil water quickly.
Has 5 burners all approximately the same size - no useless micro or too small sized burners. Love the fact that the spark ignightor goes off automatically as soon as the burner lights. Nice illuminated controls let you see where the setting is in low light.
The grates are easily removable for cleaning (just be careful you don't over scrub the lettering around the controls as you can scrub it off)- all in all a nice, very nice, piece of professional equipment.

The GE Monagram cook top was a replacement for a KitchenAid rejected for poor burner controls. The surface mounted L shaped burner controls gave you simmer or full on and nothing in between. I sent the kitchenAid back and purchased the GE Monagram because it was the only one that would fit the already cotout granite countertop. Guess what? GE uses the same unreliable L valves as the KitchenAid and they make accurate control of the flame impossible. I can't imagine that any serious engineering or testing went into the development of this range top!
