Rated 3 out of 5 by Basic Cooktop Replaced 28 year old similar Whirlpool cooktop. Needed something to fit in the same opening. Not much selection in the electric coil category. Couldn't find a stainless steel top anywhere in the market so this was the default. Works well but only time will tell if the top and the coil drip bowls will last. The top is some sort of silver-colored finished metal that is much lighter weight than stainless. The drip bowls are very thin tin that are MUCH lighter than the old ones. Too bad there is not a true stainless version of this cooktop, it is difficult to clean and it scars easily. Also, the top cannot be lifted for cleaning underneath, you can only remove the burners and bowls to clean inside. Price was good and it works well so I can only hope it lasts as long as the one it replaced. 1/2/13
