Product Reviews
Rated 1 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Loud, and not worth the money The Vinotemp VT-36 that I ordered directly from the manufacturer looks nice, keeps the wine at the right temperatures, and has all the features you would expect from a $900 wine fridge. However, it is extremely loud -- it apparently has a fan that cycles about every 20 seconds, and then the standard compressor that actually does the cooling comes on every 10 to 15 minutes. I expected the compressor noise, but the extra fan noise is ridiculously annoying. It is louder than my kitchen refrigerator, and I can hear the wine fridge a room away and with the TV on. This was not what I expected from a $900 wine refrigerator. It is much louder than the $400 one that I bought from Home Depot 6 years ago that this one was meant to replace. Worst of all, the "customer service" at VinoTemp is pretty much non-existent. I expected that there was some problem that occurred in shipping that was causing the noise, and that they would either get someone out to repair it, explain how to troubleshoot it, or have me return it. Instead, I got an email that basically said "Oh, it's supposed to make that noise", and that was it. I told them I wanted to return it, and they pointed me to the fine print on their website that says that I can return it, but with a 35% restocking fee AND paying shipping both ways. Assuming shipping is the better part of $100 each way, it would end up costing me $500 to send it back. This was not the kind of quality or customer service that I expected in a $900 wine fridge. I do not recommend this product or this company. 2/27/11
Rated 1 out of 5 Frost and stop The unit seemed to work fine for a few months then the temp started to rise. The problem was that the coils would frost over. A huge chunk of ice would form in the back, and the temp would go to the high 60s. I had to pull it out, unplug it and let it defrost, every three months. After that,I could never keep the temp anywhere near constant. Then it just quit working? I don't think that I got a year and a half out of it. 10/3/13
