Viking introduced professional cooking to the home when their first range shipped in 1987. Now that same exceptional performance extends into every corner of the kitchen - even the backyard. Refrigerators. Wine Cellars. Dishwashers. Grills. Cookware. Cutlery. Small appliances. It's enough to turn any cook into a chef.
When people think of Viking, the bold, commercial look of the Professional Series range is the image that most likely pops into their heads. Ultra-premium features like high-performance burners, convection baking, and infrared broiling easily handle everything from crème brûlée to rack of lamb. The legendary Viking range is available in gas and electric models, as well as an array of sizes and finishes to fit any kitchen.
And for those who want professional performance without the professional look, there is the Designer Series. Clean lines and contours meld gracefully into cabinets with style, offering a striking new look for Viking. Fully equipped with outstanding features and power, this complete line of built-in products doesn't sacrifice any of the world-renowned Viking performance for fashion's sake. Haute couture meets haute cuisine.
Viking doesn't see the kitchen as a collection of products, but a complete cooking environment. Cooking isn't a chore - it's an art form. Everything must work together in form and function. Both the Professional and Designer lines deliver the ultimate in performance with a cohesive look for the kitchen. Each line offers a full range of products, so you don't have to resort to mixing and matching brands and styles. Viking offers the truly consistent ultra-premium kitchen. The complete Viking kitchen is complete perfection. Available at AJ Madison.
As a gourmet, you want to fill your kitchen with only the freshest ingredients - including the air. And Viking ventilation systems not only silently subdue even the most pungent cooking aromas, they look fantastic doing it.

When I purchased the house in 2002 it already had a Viking downdraft which was 4 years old when house was built but it was already broken, my realtor had it fixed prior to me moving in, 2 years later it broke again, same problem as before it did not go up, called repair man cost $150.00 to look at it and he said that he can fix it but it will break again since Viking had a defect with the gear to make it go up and down and suggested to get a new one. I wanted a Viking to match the Viking cooktop, therefore I went and purchased another Viking downdraft, purchased with the biggest internal motor since my old motor will not work with the new one and I wanted a stronger sucking power also purchased an extended in home 3 year warranty, total cost around $1700, I installe it my self with the help of may wife ant then 11 year old son to reach small places where I could not reach with my large arm/hand, after 9 months it broke, called repairman reffered by my extended warranty, took 3 weeks to get the part and replace, the top panel and controll was replaced, repair man said the control panel circuit had oil from the exhaust which probably short circuit it, there was no charge for the repair since it had the extended warranty, 10 months later it broke again, same problem, took 3 weeks again to repair/replace and again the reapair man said the controller was full of grease, I would figure that Viking would fix this and protect the circuit with protective cover to prevent grease from going to the circuit board, No charge again for the repair since it was covered by my extended warranty, 9 months passes by and it broke again, same problem, called my warranty company again to report the problem, warranty company called me back 3 days later and told me that they will not send another repairman to my house since it is costing them too much and would send me a check for $950.00 to buy a new one, I went and shop around and purchased a Wolf Island hood since it has the strongest internal motor of 900cfm compare to Vikings 500 or 600cfm internal motor, I wanted all Viking but Viking products did not meet my expectation, therefore I was able to remove the Vikin emblem from the old downdraft and I was able to cover the Wolf sign on my Island hood, now I have all Viking appliances, buy the way I had the Wolf for a year now and no problem and it removes smoke alot better than the downdraft, I still have my Viking downdraft in place to cover the hole and suddenly it started working again but I don't use it, only use it to show off when friends are over and I would make the downdraft go up and down, that's why a gave it a 5 star for appearance.

used less than 20 times when control switch broke.
New switch is permanantly mounted in stainless top and costs $600+ including servic call.
Complained to Viking. They used the 'unfortunately' word on me.
Buyer beware
I will spend $1100 on a new unit of another brand before putting in another Viking switch which will break and put me out another $600+ dillars
