FloridaChef A Cadillac for the price of a Chevy
Here is the Cliff Notes version, followed by more detail.
ORDERED ITEM: Exactly as advertised.
PRICE: Unbeatable—a Viking or Sub –Zero for about 1/3 the price. No sales tax and free shipping.
CUSTOMER SERVICE (Jacob): A+. Gave me a $75 discount up front. I had to change the order and got no hassles but kept discount. They responded on a SUNDAY.
DELIVERY: Absolutely no damage. Took 11 calendar days starting with late Friday order from NY to FL. Delivery company called ahead for appointment and was on time.
OVERALL PERFORMANCE: Superb.
PROs: Superb quality in appearance and function. The wok attachment is great.
CONs: Oven knob numbers equate to odd temperatures (255, 310, 365) for Americans but are standard for convection portion. Height of storage drawer (3 ½”) smaller than expected. Very minor issues to me.
OTHER: Storage drawer and back guard come with very thin wrap—thought it was the final finish—but stainless underneath—don’t panic like I did. Read specs CAREFULLY to ensure you’re getting proper fuel type for stove AND oven. I initially ordered double oven then realized the primary oven was WAY too narrow AND it was electric. Mea culpa. Still getting used to the convection portion so don’t have any deep insights.
NARRATIVE: Extremely happy with this purchase. I bought this one because of very reasonable price for a commercial-grade stove and the contractor doing my kitchen remodeling has one in his house—the best kind of recommendation. AJ Madison is the place to shop. I immediately got a $75 discount. Jacob was excellent—especially when I had to correct my order. From the time of order—just before closing on a Friday afternoon—to delivery was 11 calendar days—from NY to FL. The delivery company called several days in advance to schedule a time and followed up with an email. Absolutely no damage and no problems with the delivery crew. NOTE: There is a very thin light blue plastic protective covering on the storage door cover and the back guard. I thought it was the actual finish and panicked, but when removed there’s the stainless steel finish so it looks like the on-line picture. Read the specs carefully before ordering. I REALLY wanted a double oven and initially ordered one but then did more research and at another company’s web site found that the primary oven was not even wide enough for my turkey pan! When I was ready to email Jacob to beg for forgiveness and change my order, I realized that the new single oven model I’d identified had gas burners (good) but electric oven (not what I wanted). It said “dual-fuel” and I saw it was for both natural gas and propane. So I ASSUMED that was the dual-fuel. WRONG. I found the correct model (this one), emailed Jacob ASAP and got a modified order back on SUNDAY when they were closed. Impressive, huh? I also discovered that the model number indicates the type of fuel for burners and oven (GG = Gas/Gas, GE = Gas burners and Electric oven). The specs say “Infrared broiler.” To me, that means electric. WRONG AGAIN. That’s a term used directly from the manufacturer as a type of broiler. So, did I mention to check the specs carefully?
INSTALLATION: Can’t provide personal experience but a contractor installed it without problem.
PROs: Remarkable price. Dynamite performance. The extra width (36” total) prevents pans from bumping into each other compared to standard width stove. Burner grids are solid—nothing flimsy and don’t scoot around with heavy pans. Burners are “too big” for the smallest task. Equally impressive customer service—handled my change request quickly and without any objection, and I still kept the $75 discount. They also matched the price of a ventilation hood that I found cheaper elsewhere (KOBE Range Hood Model RA3836SQD (36”)). See my review on this item.
CONs: The broiler pan is small (13 ½ x 15 ½). Glad I kept the larger one from my previous oven. The oven knob has numbers corresponding to temperatures but for the conventional oven they’re not standard American temperatures (255, 310, 365) but are standard for the convection portion. The storage drawer isn’t as high as I expected, so there’s little room for stacking pans/skillets.

Very nice range. The free shipping from AJ Madison was not an issue. About the time for delivery, I called Madison, and got the name of the final shipper; called them and arranged for the delivery. I work for an oilfield service company, so the concept of being pro active is not new to me.
The installers did not change out the orifices from natural gas to LP in the oven, so the oven got really hot. I contacted the waranty people, who talked me through the correct fix perfectly.
The kitchen looks great, and the range is the center piece.

farmrbrnboy not again.
The good: plenty of BTU’s to cook anything, convention oven, light in oven allows to see items baking, looks like a well-built stove.
The bad: When cooking pancakes on the lowest setting using cast iron pans, the pancakes must be watched judiciously or they will burn (too hot). If I use a thinner type pan, the burner has to be turned off/on to prevent it from getting too hot and burning the pancakes. The SS surface will scratch when using a 3M scotch bright pad. When lighting the middle burner, the control sticks so the igniter continues to click, I have to pull the knob out. The convention oven bakes unevenly. The oven temperature controller is unreliable, 4 = 325 to 350 degrees, I have to keep a thermometer in the oven and adjust controller to the thermometer. Last, but the greatest thumbs down, the design of the legs are poor at best. I should have figured that out when the manual said it shouldn’t be slid into place or the legs would break. Talk about a pain trying to get a 200+ pound stove into place when there is counter on both sides and a wall in the back. Too top it off, once in place, the stove is very unstable. I had to place shims between the counter and the stove top to “lock it” in place, otherwise if I barely push on the stove top it would wobble back and forth. Once I get everything in final position, I will seal it in place with a bead of caulking. A person should not have to “caulk” a $3,000 stove in place to prevent it from moving.
Last but not least, it took 5 weeks from shipping to delivery. I live in one of the biggest cities in Montana, not the bush country in Alaska.
