Rated 3 out of 5 by tk10k not so good
the first unit arrived and was broken, whether it was during the delivery or in factory I can't tell, AJ MADISON was very prompt in replacing the unit - very good service.
Once I got the unit installed and working it was a bit disappointing: 11500 BTU wasn't much more then my 5000 BTU window unit for half the price, and it's definitely more noisy then expected, overall it was not much of an upgrade in performance, but it looks better under the window then in the window

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mike Good Unit but poor install instructions
The air conditioner itself works very well after completing the installation, but I had to improvise during installation to get the unit to have the required downward slope toward the exterior of the building.
The provided instructions for installing the wall sleeve and the shims provided which are intended to obtain the necessary slope are both poor. The shims themselves are prone to sliding out of position when the air conditioner is moved into sleeve, no matter where and how they are positioned. The drawing(s) for the location of the shims are not clear.
For a correct installation I needed to make up my own shims out of pieces of 3/4" ID PVC pipe sliced lengthwise. I used a level to verify the correct slope, otherwise the unit will not drain accumulated condensation outboard as it should, which could result in air conditioner corrosion and/or wood rotting problems with the building.
Also it is better to install the inboard perimeter weatherstripping AFTER sliding the air conditioner into the sleeve instead of before as stated in instructions to avoid tearing the weatherstripping and ruining the integrity of the intended seal.

We had a frigidaire (10.5K BTU's) downstairs and was looking to get the same upstairs but went with Friedrich because of the name brand, this has 11.5k BTU's, and our room upstairs is a little bigger. I had high expectations after seeing the reputation. I'd say it's about average. It's noise isn't anything less than any other ac units. It cools the same as our unit downstairs. I was disappointed in the controller design which is very basic with on/off and 3 fan speeds. The controller with our other unit actually has a temp guage, more options, and better design. If I had my choice I might go with another brand only because they seemed a little cheaper in price. In the end I'm not unhappy but not impressed. It could be b/c I was expecting more but in the end it's just an ac unit.

some of the programmable features the friedrich people said there would be a 24 hour countdown timer if I had just run the timer for 12 hours from the first plugging in I never got to find out someone else turned it off. other than that it works wonderfully.
