Micro-Induction Cooktop provides the best in cooktop performance, safety and efficiency. Induction heats as electricity flows through a coil to produce a magnetic field under the ceramic plate. When a ferromagnetic cookware is placed on the ceramic surface, currents are induced in the cookware and instant heat is generated due to the resistance of the pan. Heat is generated to the pan only and no heat is lost. As there are no open flames, inductions are safer to use than conventional burners. We were thinking of getting an induction cooktop and so purchased this unit to test one out. It is not apples to apples, however, since this is 120v instead of 240v. Therefore, it sautes, e.g., instead of browns. It heats up water fairly quickly but not amazingly fast as we had heard about induction cootops. We'll use it during our kitchen remodel when we have no cooktop and it will be fine. So, it depends on what you use it for.

I wanted a cooktop I could put away when not in use. Love the induction cooking and the features of this product. It's nice having a cooktop that's smarter then I am, the auto shut-off feature has already saved me once - I forgot about a meal I was warming on it.
If there was something I could change about it, it would be the material around the cooking area it's self. I would rather it was all heat proof. I used a frying pan for stir-fry and while moving it around on the cooktop melted a spot on the edge. Doesn't effect the performance of the cooktop, but I'm more careful to keep the pan in it's proper place.
I love this product, not having to have a range or built-in cooktop in our new house is wonderful!!! All my counter space is clear. I can pull this out and place it anywhere to use it - then just put it away.

This will be our only cooktop. We will buy another one so we can have two thing going at the same time. Then, shortly after, put it away.
Those along with a countertop convection oven, rice cooker and crock pot will complete our new kitchen for cooking needs. I love not having to have a Range wasting energy and taking up space!
