Description
The SLK249 is the same at the SLK240 except for the 5th Burner. Also with it's Bakeview Window & Light and Side Compartment makes cooking a lot easier. It also has Electronic Ignition System, which allows ALL burners, including the Oven, to be lit with a match in case of a power faliure. The Porcelain top makes it a whole lot easier to clean up spills and nasty messes. Please check the features tab for more information.

Product Reviews
Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by A good deal for the price We purchased this range 1 month ago. If you do a lot of cooking and you need top quality this may not be the product for you. That said, it’s a good, basic, value product, easy to set up without too many surprises. If you don't do a whole lot of cooking or entertaining, this might work for you. I would give it a higher rating, but given the limited period since purchase and the issues (see below) that I have with material quality, I'll go with the "average" rating. I still would recommend this product. The open burners work ok and at the highest burn will boil a large 6 qt pot of room temp water in a little over 22 minutes. At the lowest burn, you can simmer something without burning; not too bad. The burners are a little difficult to clean and stain easily. The enamel stains after just about any use and it’s especially pronounced after cooking with large pots. The chrome heat reflector trays help with spills but are hard to clean; don’t skip a day of cleaning. The burner grates, like the burners are light-weight (no cast iron or enamel here) but serviceable. The grill plate over the 5th burner is a nice feature, although I don’t like the non-stick stuff; it’s light weight and it doesn’t quite heat evenly (this’ll get better with more experience, I guess). I wish it – the grill - was a heavier cast iron. The stainless steel cover works nicely over the middle burner protecting the burner and providing workspace on the stove; you can also use this burner as standard burner by swapping the grill with the available grate/porcelain burner well assembly. Be careful when cleaning the stove top – don’t use anything that’s too abrasive. The enamel finish isn’t the highest quality. You should wipe up even minor spills immediately. It has a sufficiently raised edge around the stovetop to contain spills and contribute to easier cleaning but this is offset by the design of the middle (5th) burner; the opening around the grill allows larger spills to seep down under the stovetop. The clock and timer are easy to set and so far work as advertised. There are no other digital features. The glass backguard – a little flimsy in construction – is adequate. The oven has good capacity and seems to cook foods relatively evenly. We’ve baked food on sheets and we’ve used multiple racks simultaneously with overall good results. The temperature seems to be accurate overall although my wife swears that the oven doesn’t heat as well as our last oven; this hasn’t been confirmed with a thermometer. There are 2 oven racks with 4 positions. The broiler broils evenly and there are 3 available positions for the broiler rack. We don’t do that much broiling (only twice since purchasing the product) so this works for us. The sealing material around the oven door appears to be low quality and I foresee possible issues over time; it’s made of a thin rubber-like material that by the look and feel of it will wear down and have to be replaced. Go easy on the door handles. Again, this is a value product so these handles are not the highest quality and the door isn’t as heavy as some of the other products that you may be considering. 9/27/10
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent stove Have had this model for approximately 6 years now. Still looks new except for spots where it was cleaned with a heavy hand and inappropriate abrasive material. No discoloration. Cleans easily inside and out. Only complaint is that the griddle cover/5th burner cover in white would have been a nicer look than the stainless steel. Nice and big for large pots and pans. Best buy around even though it was shipped across the country to Cali. 11/30/09
Rated 5 out of 5 range The product is great and your perfromance was great 10/3/08
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good but not 100% This gas range has futures that can make it the best in the market, but in the maintime it lakes the good surface finish. The top is Porclyeen white and it should stay white to the end but what happened that after two time use of the range the top color changed to a permenant yelloish around the burners. One more thing, the metal surrounding the oven view glass is chipped. Also sometimes when you lit the oven you hear a sound like comming from sudden ignition of large amount of gas stored in the oven compartment. Otherthan these, it is ok. [...] 9/3/08
