Florida Chef The Tops in Recirculating Vent Hoods
This hood more than lives up to its QuiteMode feature. Even at full throttle it’s a great improvement from what we had previously. It is very stylish. The lighting (halogen) is great. In terms of performance, it performs as advertised and we are very happy—400 CFM is quite a capacity given that it’s a recirculating vent hood. Also like the oil catch. We found a lower price elsewhere and A.J. Madison matched it. No sales tax and superb customer service with them are also big plusses. We strongly recommend A.J. Madison for other items as well.
The one drawback which prevents a five star rating is installation. The unit is 35 ¼” wide. This is clearly mentioned in the summary, but I failed to appreciate its significance. The contractor had to insert shims on each side to fill up the 36’ horizontal space between the cabinets. In addition, the knockout holes are too far from the edge of the hood which means it won’t attach to the cupboard rim but requires additional work to attach it to the bottom of the overhead cabinet. THIS IS PROBABLY NOT SOMETHING SUITED FOR INSTALLATION BY YOUR AVERAGE HOME OWNER. Also, the address for warranty registration on the enclosed postcard is incorrect. It should be sent to 11775 Clark Street, Arcadia, CA, 91006 per an email response from the company.
