Product Reviews
Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 55 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Glad I made the jump to induction! Life is good again. The new, made in USA, GE induction cook top, dual oven arrived this week. The delivery crew was prompt and professional. The nearly 30 year old quartz halogen stove was in dire need of replacement. The performance of this new stove is awesome and the convection oven feature is quiet and fast. I love the safety features too. For example, if I remove a pan from the cook top the burner shuts off. I am having fun cooking again and using Mama's pieces of vintage Flame Le Creuset. I am looking on e-bay,etc for a deep saute pan in Flame. I may have to settle for a newer one in Red. (We had thin crust combo pizza last night, veggie frittata for breakfast, and a roast, using the slow roast feature, is planned for supper-yum!) I looked long and hard for just the right induction range and this one is exceeding my expectations. I believe I will even see a modest improvement in energy usage :) 1/21/12
Rated 3 out of 5 by The induction top is great, but the oven is terrible. The oven indicates it is ready after about 10 minutes, but you have to wait another 15 minutes before it is really ready. When it indicates ready it is 50-150 degrees low. The GE repairmen have both said it is not up to temperature for 20-25 minutes. They say this is due to the sensor location. I would buy a GE induction cook top any time, but I will not buy another oven until they correctly indicate the temperature. 2/3/12
Rated 2 out of 5 by The oven is great, the range is horrible, and the manual leaves a lot out I have now had two versions of this range because the first had issues with the warming drawer and had to be replaced. However, that is nothing compared to the horrible features of the range. BE WARNED: Most people don't read the manual before buying a product. If you read this one, it leaves many things out, but one thing it does say is that there might be a clicking sound on some burners sometimes which is an indication that the burner is maintaining your desired temperature. What it doesn't say is that this noise is on all of the smaller burners below setting 4 and that is it loud, as in able to be heard over a loud action movie and dance music loud. The repair man said it is normal and there is nothing he can do. I'm returning this item because there is such commonality in using low settings on this range because of the amount of heat it creates - a feature that would be great but for the fact I can no longer enjoy simmering things because of that horrible noise. Save your money and above all else require to see ranges in action before buying and don't feel stupid for wanting to see it at different levels for extended periods of time. I promise this is not a universal feature, though, GE's technology department just clearly missed the mark. Additionally, they only provide a manual that covers all electric models, which includes induction and non-induction. This makes it confusing, and as I learned from the repair man, seems to also have caused them to leave many details out. So also be sure to look for a comprehensive guide to your range as induction is very different from anything else, even other electric ones. 5/11/12
Rated 1 out of 5 by Unacceptably Loud When Using Cooktop We purchased this range in response to several favorable online reviews. We unfortunately never had a chance to experience the bad clicking and buzzing noises that occured when using the induction "burners." As stated by other reviewers here, the induction units tend to make loud noises, especially when being used at low to medium levels (i.e., 4 and below). The incessant clicking is very bothersome and can be heard in the other room. Furthermore, low to medium levels are very often necessary since the cooktop is so powerful. After our first unit had other build problems, we ended up getting it replaced with another unit that supposedly had some internal improvements although being otherwise the same. This new unit makes even more noise then our original one. We are returning this unit as well and will be getting an induction range from different manufacturer. We would have never purchased this range knowing the many everyday tasks for which we use it would be accompanied by repetitive and annoying sounds. I do not see how this range ever passed customer-usability tests during prototyping with such loud induction units. The other features of the range and the styling and visual appearance of the range are all great, but the loud noises are a deal-breaker. If you do any serious cooking at all, I would steer clear of this range. On a side note, the noises present in this range are not present on other induction cooktops. I have seen and used a number of induction cooktops and none have had the loud noises present on the GE Profile PHS925STSS induction range. 7/12/12
