Product Reviews
Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 1172 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by pretty but slow and locked I have purchased and used Maytag washers through the many decades I have done laundry. I trust the quality. I am disappointed with the new technology, which seems to be mostly a showcase for the techies rather than a work horse for busy householders. This model looks sleek, but takes far longer than necessary to work through a wash-rinse cycle. Add to that the frustration of not being able to open the lid until WELL after the machine is stopped, plus, the computer sensor-driven EVERYTHING means I have little control over the laundry. Every time I open the lid, or shift a dial, the computer stops to sense and reconfigure the machine, leading to interruption and more time needed to complete the job. Once I even thought the machine to be stuck on rinse, as it took over an hour to complete, so I did a manual shutdown. Before calling a repairman, I rebooted it, and it reset. It still takes nearly an hour for one full cycle. I wish I had my old Maytag back. Give me dials over computer chips any day! 6/17/11
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very disappointed This machine is terrible. It takes an hr to do one load no matter what setting. The start button is rubber not too durable. Locks when you start machine so if you want to add detergent or check load have to unlock. It's so slow even filling with water. The only thing I like about the machine is it has automatic fabric softener feature. I thought Maytag was a good name but this machine is a dud. I'm very disappointed in it. Never seen anything like it in life.I'm very concerned this machine might not last long. It even sounds like it is struggling to work. 2/15/12
Rated 1 out of 5 LESS THAN ONE STAR This is the worst washing machine I have ever owned. It takes more than an hour to wash a load of clothes. Washing clothes on the "Normal" cycle does not get the clothes clean. It has been ripping and tearing my towels to shreds. I have tried using different wash cycles and adding smaller loads, but every time I wash a load another towel, sock, or piece of clothing comes out ripped and torn. Maytag will not admit to any problem, however, I have been doing laundry for 40 years and I have owned several washing machines. This is the first washing machine I have owned that actually shreds my towels and clothing. Maytag will not do anything to replace the agitator or even admit that there is a problem with this machine. 2/23/12
Rated 1 out of 5 by Worse Machine I've Ever Used!!!! This machine looks nice, sounds nice and my clothes came clean. However, the sensors are highly sensative! I've been using my machine brand new since April, 2012. It is now September, 2012 and I have to call a repair man in to explain to me why the sensor lights are not coming on after begining a load that went from wash to spin, and without draining, just shut off and refuse to continue nor start over. I went to Google for an immediate answer and see many people complaining about the Maytag Centennial specifically. After viewing a few videos, I know that I will more than likely go for the old model machines or something of a higher rating regardless to price. This machine is not worth the stress. My clothes are sitting in the machine filled with water as I type. 9/6/12
