Product Reviews
Rated 2.6 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Similar to more Expensive Model We purchased this unit a month ago . We chose it over other brands/models because it has superior lighting, is very quiet ( has an internal fan for circuitry cooling besides the top blower), has a 4-speed blower, and is large actually measuring out at almost 1.93 cu.ft rather than the 1.8 that is specified. It has some of the same features as the more expensive Whirlpool Gold model GH5184. Both models have twin over-the-range lights near the FRONT of the cabinet bottom to provide excellent lighting for your cook top. It also has twin grease filters positioned right above where your range burners will be, thus providing better than average pull for venting steam and vapors. This unit can also be equipped with the SAME charcoal odor filters that are in the more expensive GH5184. These twin charcoal filters install in slots just above the grease filters. These filters can be bought substantially less online from APWagner for about $6 a pair, or buy bulk charcoal filter materials from your home (depot) supply store. The differences between the GM5184 and the MH3184 are some warming and thawing cycles (3 extra control buttons) and the Accuwave (inverter) powered magnetron circuitry. If you are satisfied with the good old reliable standard microwave operation, you won't miss these few new features. In fact, some reviews online suggest that inverter circuits fail after two years or so and cost $$$ to repair. GE has the "Circuwave" inverter microwave, and Panasonic has the original "inverter" type microwaves. Panasonic inverters seem to hold up, the others are debatable. So, all things considered, this was the best buy for us and can be purchased for $300 - $385 at many stores. We used a 10% off (movers)coupon and price matched at a large home supply and appliance store locally. 1/7/09
Rated 1 out of 5 by Biggest piece of junk ever I uought this microwave as part of my upgraded appliance package when I built my home in 2005. I had 2 service calls in 2005 and 1 in 2006. Now the unit is 6 years old and it is not working again. I am replacing it. I already have more money into it in service calls then I paid for it.(warranty was a joke). Do not buy Whirlpool anything. Every appliance had an issue. And to think I paid more for the "better" brand. 1/9/12
Rated 1 out of 5 by Dissappointed in whirlpool I bought this mircrowave in 2009. After using it a few years the handle broke off. It cost more to replace the door almost than the entire microwave!!! This product is poor workmanship. I purchased the "gold" brand whirlpool products when i rennovated my entire kitchen. This included 4 major whirlpool applicances. No more!!! I am shopping for a new microwave and stove top that doesn't hve "Whirlpool" attached to the label. It is sad their producsts are not the quality I remember! 1/6/13
Rated 2 out of 5 by Don't Buy! We remodeled our Kitchen 5 years ago. We bought all Whirlpool Gold appliances and this microwave has been a joke! We don't use our microwave very much and it bit the dust yesterday. Very disappointed! 9/5/13
