I have canned jelly and vegetables as well as made a pot of gumbo with all the trimmings. There is plenty of room and it heats up just like it was meant too. The only problem I am having is keeping it clean and streak free. This is my first set of black appliances so I was not aware of the constant struggle with the surface streaks. 5/16/13
