CAUTION: There are two drawbacks to this dishwasher.
1. It has raised our level of expectations for dishwasher performance.
2. It has exposed our previous dishwashers for what they really were: dishrinsers.
For years we have had super-quiet "dishwashers" that did little more than circulate dirty water and redistribute food particles. When our new Maytag Jetclean plus was installed and run for the first time, it seemed fairly noisy at certain parts of the wash cycle. We called to have the serviceman come over to make sure the dishwasher was working right, which it was.
While it is noisy while the pump is running, it is fairly quiet while washing and silent in the dry cycle. With the fully integrated control panel, you cannot always tell if the dishwasher is still running. So, it would be nice if there was a light on the outside of the door to let you know when the wash cycle is completed (orange for running and green for done).
At 56 dBA, this dishwasher is noisier than our previous 43 dBA machine, but our family has all agreed that we will happily trade a little noise for sparkling clean dishes.
