Welcome To LG
LG Electronics USA Commercial Air Conditioning business is a leading player in the global air conditioning market, manufacturing both commercial and residential air conditioners and providing total sustainability and building management solutions. From consumer units to commercial air conditioning systems, LG provides a wide range of innovative products for heating, ventilating and air conditioning.

About Duct-Free Systems
A duct-free system, also known as a "split" air conditioner system, is made up of or includes two components: an indoor unit to deliver conditioned air to the room, and an outdoor unit located outside of the house. Compact refrigerant lines run between the two units, eliminating the need for bulky ductwork. Duct-free systems are ideal for older homes that have no ductwork, room additions, or areas in homes that just never seem to be the right temperature or are never comfortable.

LG duct-free systems are available in a range of sizes and styles - including systems that can heat and cool multiple rooms with a single outdoor unit to fit almost any need. The indoor units are available in many different types to fit with the look and feel of your home.

How To Choose A Room Air Conditioner
Compared to large capacity central units, room air conditioners have several advantages. The initial cost of a room air conditioning unit is significantly lower than the cost of central air. Because room air conditioners are designed for cooling small spaces, operating costs are reduced. And, room air conditioners can provide personalized temperature and humidity controls that central systems cannot.

Calculating Cooling Capacity
Cooling capacity is the critical factor in properly selecting a room air conditioner. Cooling capacity is measured in British Thermal Units (BTUs) and typical models will range in capacity from 5,000 BTUs to 28,500 BTUs.

Choosing an undersized unit will overwork the unit and it will not cool properly. Choosing an over-sized unit will cost more to buy and operate and it will not dehumidify properly.

We can help you to calculate capacity. Be prepared to provide specific information on:
  • Room Dimensions
  • A simple floor plan to show the location of doors and north-facing windows
  • The number of people it will serve
  • Sources of heat such as lamps, TV and appliances
  • An explanation of what's above the intended room
  • Your insulation provisions

Cooling Capacity by Room Size
Measure the length and width of the area to be cooled. Multiply the length by the width to determine square footage or square meters. Locate the room size in the chart below to select the appropriate BTUs. Then use the product information to select the unit for your room. When cooling rooms with uninsulated ceilings, great rooms, or southern or western sun exposures - step up to the next BTU size.

16515 5,200

Air Conditioner Tips
Air flow - Keep air filters clean. Do not block air flow areas.

Roomside view - J-models feature concealed power cord storage, this eliminates excessive cord exposure when receptacle is located close to unit.

Wall Opening For RAB46/47/48 Cases
A finished opening of 26 1/8" x 15 3/4", clear of intrusions, is required. Keep clearance of 4" from side walls. Brick veneer or frame walls should have wood studding surrounding case to provide firm anchoring with screws. Case can be fastened directly to brick or block walls with screws sunk in lead expansion shields. NOTE: units should be caulked on all four sides of case to the building exterior to assure building integrity.
Energy Info
This air conditioner has an Energy Efficiency Rating of 16.4 and has an estimated yearly operating cost of $45.64.

Your operating costs will depend on your utility rates and use. The estimated yearly operating cost is based on the 2011 national average cost of $.1109 cents per kWh for electricity and an estimated number of operating hours of 750 hours.

Product Reviews
Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by LG Art Cool™ Premier Review We recently had the opportunity to test and review the new LG Art Cool™ Premier, the latest model in their Duct-Free product suite. LG has a history of making highly efficient but sleek looking products, including TV’s, Cell Phones and more. The model we review here today is #LS090HYV and does not the option for heating, so this is cooling only. The house in which we installed the unit is a 2,500 sq/ft single family, two-level home with 3 bedrooms. Due to the intense heat this Summer, there is an auxiliary room over the garage that has trouble maintaining cool temperatures due to its proximity to the heat pump. Instead of re-working the duct work, a ductless mini-spit system proved to be the better option. Ductless mini-split systems are a great way to supplement heating and cooling systems in the home. Whether you retrofit the unit by pairing it with an existing central air system, or install it in an addition, mini splits have becoming the ideal solution for rooms that need an additional boost in heating or cooling. According to Energy Star, there are many benefits to purchasing a Ductless system, including money & energy savings, as well as control over comfort (on-demand). Art Cool™ Premier Review Installation: The installation of the unit was a fairly simple process. We used a local, trusted HVAC contractor and this was actually the first one of this model they installed. In what was predicted to take two days to complete, the one-man team had it completed within 12 hours. We put the inside unit next to a NW facing window, and it fits perfectly in the room. Since this room is above the garage, we were able to put the outside unit right in between some shrubbery. The contractor did a nice job of setting the outdoor parts so that they do not look out of place. The refrigerant lines were then run up the side of the home, and get covered with siding so that it blends well. Operation: The Art Cool™ unit comes with a pretty slick remote control, and is incredibly easy to use. With the push of a button, you can hear the unit come on and the 4-way swing puts out a soothing tone. My mother was actually in town the week after the system was installed, and commented how crazy it was that an AC system displaying so much power could be so quiet. I really like how simple it is to use. I think this is one of the best features of the unit – simply turn it on, let it cool the room and you are done. The Premier unit also has a built-in sleep mode feature that ensures the unit does not run all day in case you forget to turn it off. Cooling Power: Without a doubt, the LG mini-split cools a 400 sg/ft. room with ease. Even on a 90 degree day, the entire room was cooled within minutes. I don’t see any negatives to the cooling power at this point, and imagine that the increased efficiency of the unit will not put a huge dent in our electric bill. Looks: The unit looks sleek, there is no doubt about it. I’ve seen many ductless systems before and the outside units are really where the aesthetics suffer. LG has done a great job with the Art Cool™ line, although I would prefer if the refrigerant lines would have been run inside the home. Conclusion: We really like the LG product line, and would recommend that Art Cool Premier to anyone looking for a ductless mini-split system for their home or office. It is hard to overlook the incredible design aspects that feed into one of the industries top-performing air conditioning units. Between the great looks, ease of installation and reporting energy-savings, I have not seen another ductless mini-split unit that matches the LG Art Cool™ Premier. 10/1/12
Rated 4 out of 5 by Came in Broken It came in broken, but it still works. I was going to return it but I would be out of an office for probably 2 weeks so I decided to stick with it. Other than that it works pretty good. The thermostat is buggy. I find myself having to change the temperature quite often because it doesnt shut off once the room is at the right temp! 4/24/13
