We have had two similar KA ice makers since approximately 2000. Not durable at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tripp Great, but vent machine
This is the best home ice machine on the market. I have had 4. However, it runs very hot and almost non-stop.
The problem is that this machine will BURN OUT in 2-3 years. The compressor runs so hot it will die, and you will be faced with a $750 repair bill.
However, if you vent this well so it gets air flow from front and behind, it will last for 10 years. I was able to cut a hole in the wall behind this and install a 6" x8" vent, and it works well. You would be very surprised by the heat that comes out!
FYI...All ice machines run this hot, this is an industry issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Sparky Bad Purchase Ever
I owed a Kenmore Ice Maker that lasted fourteen years. When it went bad i purchased another one that was still making ice when i built my new house and that was about eight years after it was installed. I purchased all Kitchen Aid applicances for my new home. In six years i've had to have the ice maker service people come out three times. Now i'm told that it will cost me eight hundred dollars to repair the ice maker so it will make ice again. Not a good deal for just six years of making ice.
