I ordered this dishwasher on December 30, 2011 and it only worked 3 times before breaking down. Repair guy came out to fix it, I waited for new parts, the parts came, it's still not working, new parts ordered, still waiting for them... it is now February 17, 2012.
And the only comment that Kitchenaid has for me is 'there is nothing we can do for you'
Do not buy one of their machines!

After working well for approximately two weeks, the machine shut down and would not operate. A technician had determined that the main computer in the machine was faulty, in fact it was registering so many faults - more than he had ever seen before. So after waiting for the parts to come they returned to install it, only to find that the touchpad controls were also faulty. I am still waiting for this part to be replaced. So, after spending more on what is supposedly a great machine, I am still doing dishes in the sink.

Firstof all, buying from AJ Madison was just great. I ordered this item from HomeEverything and waited about three weeks before I finally spoke to someone who told me that it was backordered, and I'd have to wait a month more! I canceled that order and placed it with AJ Madison, and it was in my house the very next day, no shipping or tax (in New Jersey, anyway).
The dishwasher itself has been a bit disappointing. It looks nice, and feels high-tech for sure, but the first six or seven washes left milky residue on our glasses (and yes, we used the rinse-aid -- we even used the samples of expensive detergent they include). Over time, it seems to have gotten better, but I was not impressed right off the bat.
Hiding the controls along the top edge of the door makes for an attractive-looking appliance, but when the door is open and you are loading/unloading it, it's very easy to accidentally press the buttons with your leg and queue up a wash, so you have to be careful to press "cancel" sometimes before closing it or else the wash will start unexpectedly.
I do like the cutlery tray above the glasses rack, and the fact that the upper rack is adjustable.
