I really wanted a counter depth refrigerator and a bottom freezer. I was redoing my kitchen and built the counter depth concept into the plan and spent lots of time thinking through my different options. Bottom line, LOVE this purchase for the following reasons:
1) Looks amazing! I wipe stainless steel clean periodically with a damp sponge and every month or so wipe it with stainless steel cleaner.
2) No more bad food. I was losing so much food in my side by side as it was TOO far back. Now I can see everything
3) LOVE the big deli drawer. I put so much in there, deli, some veggies, garlic. BE careful with the drawer though as I busted it early into my fridge relationship - I had the drawer wide open, pulled something out with the french doors open. One of the doors closed on the drawer and caused the opening mechanism to break. It was covered under warranty.
4). LOVE the inside water dispenser. I really didn't want to have the aesthetic appeal of the outside ruined by the big water/ice dispenser on the outside. The whole family drinks a lot of water and has no problem opening the door and pushing our cups against the water dispenser. Filter seems to last a long time too, much longer than the other refrigerators I've owned.
5) Ice bucket is great - comes with an ice scoop. I don't miss the ice dispenser outside the freezer either - scooping allows one cube or 10!
6) Adjustable shelves make it easy to accommodate your own style of stocking the fridge.
Some things to note - we have our extra fridge (side by side) available for overflow - especially for the freezer. The freezer can be tight for some things such as turkeys, or more recently, an ice cream cake in a box as I tend to have too much stuff sitting in my freezer (bags of fruits and veggies) that take up too much room. I am so pleased with the drawers and baskets that allow my to stash my ice cream and easily pull out (as do my 8 and 11 year old find it easy as well).
No problems with high pitch noises and the few times I left the door open and heard a beeping, I was glad to be told to close the door. The kids have no problems going in and out of the fridge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SRT Fantastic counter-depth, French door fridge
My new condo had a counter-depth space for a fridge so my options were very limited. You pay a premium for counter-depth (despite the decreased depth!) no matter which brand you go with but this one was at the more reasonable end of an unreasonable spectrum of prices. The folks at AJ Madison (and other sources) said that the KitchenAid compressors are the most reliable of any out there - regardless of cost. Time will tell. However, the design and aesthetics of this fridge are already evident. Little details down to the ice scoop in the dispenser on the bottom, really smart. Could not be happier with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by sb Awesome Frig
A lot of space for a counter depth frig. Plenty of ice is produced for our needs and water dispenser is nice on the inside. In fact the unit looks much better without the exterior ice/water dispenser. Food appears to stay a lot fresher in this frig then our last one. Freezer space is tight but adequate. Overall a great piece of equipment and we are very pleased with it
