Rated 1 out of 5Â by unhappy camper DO NOT BUY THIS FRIDGE
If you want your fridge to look built in and/or counter depth...DO NOT BUY THIS FRIDGE! It has to stick out really far in order for the doors to open properly. Also note the cabinet is black. I have white panels & was told the fridge would stick out a little which I was going to be ok with. It sticks out a lot & is very ugly. My contractor called it the "fly in the punch bowl." We are now starting over on the fridge which will prove costly. We have invested in the fridge, labor, panels & hardware. Please don't make the same mistake I did.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by miserablewiththenoise It's so noisy!
We certainly have no complaints about the looks or features of this Kitchenaid refrigerator, but we are miserable with the noise it makes. It emits a loud, high pitched ringing sound whenever the compressor is running, which is at least 20 minutes per hour. The sound can be heard two rooms over. It makes our beautiful remodeled kitchen almost uninhabitable. Whirlpool sent 2 appliance repair techs out, basically to placate us. They denied hearing any unusual sound and said nothing was wrong, but didn't charge us for the visits, nor did they take a decibel reading. Both of which indicate to me that Whirlpool knows it's a problem but doesn't want to acknowledge it. We're at our wits end. We've sunk a significant amount of money into this refrigerator and the custom panels and handles. But the noise is unbearable!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Our Home Cook French Door Refrig
We ordered this custom panel, counter depth refrig in our recent remodel. We love it. We like the temp adjustments, the drawer glide system...well just about everything.
One little item that stands out is the alarm that sounds when one of the doors is left ajar.
This is a model I would purchase again.
We liked this frig so much that we bought its little brother for our second home. This is a more traditional frig with a 3 door system. That was a mistake. The only similarity is the exterior appearance.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by The Frigernator Good job Kitchen Aid
This unit works really well and has a very low energy usage. The counter depth design was a good fit for our kitchen although it is deeper than the 20 year old counter depth GE it replaced. I am still not used to the three door design and am not sure that I will ever like it. My wife loves it, so you might want to play around with one at a store to see if it works for you. Finally, K.A. does not offer handles for the model that accepts custom panels. You will need to use handles to match those in your kitchen or buy some real refrig. handles and rig them up. The ice maker is a little slow as is the water dispensed. If you need ice and water through the door look elsewhere. If you want nearly perfect cooling, low energy use, counter depth size, panel ready doors, and 3 door layout, this is a great choice.
