This is a rebadged Insinkerator Evolution Excel, milti-grind auto reversing unit. I replaced a similar 15 yr old disposer with the Excel recently, believing I had the best unit on the market for household use. However, the manufacturer changed the grinding technology lately with less than stellar results. It is quiet until scraps are inserted, at which time a commotion can ensue. This machine has a very difficult time clearing the grinding chamber of scraps, which is my main complaint. Banana peels, pineapple peeling and such were quickly chewed up and disposed of with my old disposer, but not so with this one. It doesn't plug up, but just will not dispose of all of the waste in the grinding chamber, leaving a cup for so behind. Even after repeated attemps using a couple gallons of water at a time by partially filling the sink, turning on the disposer, and pulling the plug, there is still remaining food remnants left. Maybe this wouldn't be such an issue except that you end up using a lot more water than normal, and if you were to go on vacation for a few weeks, you'd likely come home to a sink full of maggots. So I would stay clear of anything that claimed to use muli-grind technology. The reversing function which worked rather well on the old unit seems to have no useful ability on this new one. I am quite sure that this is not a malfunctioning disposer either, but an engineering situation instead.
