This cook top fit perfectly into the space my old unit occupied. Installing it was a cinch. After talking with owners of the new smooth-surface cooktops I decided I wanted to avoid them. Too many caveats about cleaning and what kind of pans you can use. Plus they cost three times as much as this unit. I was afraid I would regret not getting the "latest and greatest" but I would buy this again in New York minute!
I've used this since early November and have not one complaint about it. Units heat up quickly and are easy to control. I chose the black surface. It's easy to keep clean and shiny using a paper towel and an all-surface spray cleaner or just plain window cleaner.
It is also very easy to clean any spills that go down into the drip bowls. Should a major spill go beyond the drip bowl, it's a cinch to raise the top and clean that space. I appreciate the warning about not raising the Calrod units more than one inch when removing them. I've been able to remove them by raising them only half an inch and they all are seating absolutely properly. Heed that warning if you buy one of these.
