In a word loud We've had the refrigerator for two years. From day one we thought the unit was noisy. We had two different service techs come out and they both said there was nothing they could do about the noise. Whirlpool suggested putting a rug under the unit, no help. I can hear the refrigerator from any room in he house. I can even hear it over the TV in the same area. If you want quiet look somewhere else. 3/2/13

so far so good!! replaced it with a Maytag that was loud and had a ice dispenser that spit ice everywhere. So far I'm happy lets see what a couple more months brings !! 2/25/13
