Purchased this microwave 1/29/2011 for $436.
Feb. 11, 2011 called them that it was steaming up and technician came and looked at it. said it was ok.
June 15, 2012 unit wouldn't heat. Technician came and said the magnetron needed to be replaced. Spent $373 for the repair.
Jan. 15,2013 microwave not heating once again. Since it seemed to be the same thing, we decided to replace it with a Samsung. Love our Samsung one! When I purchased this new one, I also purchased the five year warranty so that I don't get stuck with expensive repair bills. Had a Samsung many years ago and never ever had a problem.

Failed rigth after the warranty, plan to replace with another manufacturer. PS the only good reviews that I see is for people that had it for less than a year.

I would rate both the Product and Whirlpool Customer service a "0" if I could. We purchased this Convection Microwave not quite 2 years ago and have now experienced our 4th failure of the magnetron. Given the other comments this is obviously a poor design and Whirlpool knows it. The first two failures happened within the first year of use and were covered by the original warranty. Given the history we purchased the extended warranty and had it fixed once under that. Unfortunately this last failure happened after the extended warranty expired. I didn't think I should have to keep paying for the privilege of using this piece of junk year after year so I refused to buy another year of warranty. When contacted after this last failure about the obvious lemon they designed and perpetrated on the public, Whirlpool's reply was essentially "sorry but the original 1 year warranty is up", they stand behind their product, way behind. Unfortunately I have other Whirlpool/KitcheAid products in my house and when they break, as I expect they will, they will not be replaced by anything made by this company, perhaps I'll try GE.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Amy Terrible product
We bought our micro/convection in Sept 2010 and used
it less than a year for we are in another area part of the
year. Our microwave now does not work and we researched online of this model and found oodles of
others having the same problem. Endless part replacements with most ending up replacing it with another brand. I was
a "whirlpool" fan but not anymore. Consumer Reports
should not have given them such high ratings and I'm canceling my subscripition with CR for false advertisement. I cannot say a product as
this is "good" in anyway when it does not work before
two years of having it.
