Rated 1 out of 5 by Frustrated Ruined Basement Ceiling, Replacing
I am here looking for a replacement for GLDT696TSS which looks exactly like this one. It is a beautiful dishwasher and cleans reasonably well. I have no problems getting a bunch of dishes clean and I have a large family. Depends how you stack it. Bottom line if you need an ADA dishwasher they will be smaller. I can live with that, so why replace this with one not made by GE?
I bought this less than 2 year ago and had it professionally installed. A hose or clamp came loose after 9 months and a gallon of water leaked into my basement. Was fixed under warranty, happened again, fixed again. Recently happened again. I have had it, the ceiling in my basement has to be professionally repaired once I get a new dishwasher from a different manufacturer. It looks like this is not the only time this happened, the other ADA compliant model by GE also has someone reporting this problem back in 2009, wish I had seen the post!

The appearance is EXCELLENT. The installation was interesting, to say the least. Install instructions were written by someone who had never seen this product or they are the same instructions that are used for ALL of GE's dishwashers.
Our previous dishwasher(GE Profile) had more that enough room to hold a days worth of dishes for two people.(two meals, pots, pans, plates, glasses and silverware) This washer can barely hold a single meals worth of these items.
This will be the last time that I buy a product like this online. The outer dimensions are exactly what was stated in the specs, but I don't recall seeing ANY internal dimensions and I read everything I could find on this and many other brands. Also, it adjusts to the height that is stated in the specs, but the skirt in the front that is intended to cover the opening at bottom front does not adjust all the way to the floor when you adjust the washer past 32". This leaves a 2" gap that is clearly visible and the flooring under most dishwashers is not usually something that anyone wants to be seen by guests. It is not as quiet as the spec's would lead you to believe. I actually put a sound pressure level meter to it and found that the noise was reaching approximately 70dB at different times during the wash and rinse cycles.
I will not recommend this product. In fact I will not recommend G.E. to anyone ever again. "Green" seems to be their only priority, their products and their customers are just necessary obstacles.
