The Hoover story begins in 1907. Murray Spangler, an inventor who worked nights as a janitor, had an asthma problem. He called upon his inventor's creativity to find a solution to the dust that aggravated his asthma as he swept up at night. Spangler gathered a tin soap box, a fan, a sateen pillow case and a broom handle, and assembled an odd-looking, cumbersome contraption that managed to pull the dust away from the air he breathed. He quickly realized that this "suction sweeper," as he called it, had enormous sales potential, and he began seeking financial backing. W.H. "Boss" Hoover, owner of a leather goods manufacturing shop, bought the patent from Spangler in 1908, retained him as a partner, and soon had six employees assembling six units a day in a corner of the leather goods shop. Now that's a humble beginning.

Rated 1 out of 5 THE WORST CARPET CLEANER EVER AFTER 2 USES!!!
I purchased this carpet cleaner and used it 2 times. Now it takes the water from the clean water tank and put it into the dirty water tank. It doesn't clean the carpet anymore. I have wasted bottles of cleaner and now I see other people are having the same exact problem. This is the worst cleaner. I should have followed my first instinct and bought a Bissell...

I purchased this product after owning the Hoover SteamVac and only did because I wanted the onboard attachments. Well, what a disappointment. Although I only use this twice a year, the first time I used the Max Extract 77, the hose leaked water. It was under warranty and was "repaired". I brought it home put it away and then the next time I went to use it, the water would not spray from the attachment. I was so disgusted. I called the repair shop. They said it could now be the pump and it's past the warranty. I am back to using my Hoover SteamVac and I now have a husband that is very unhappy with me! He told me to contact Hoover but I'm not sure what they would do.

This carpet scrubber is terrible! It doesn't suck up any water, it did in the beginning...now it just leaves my carpet soaking wet! Of course it lasted till the warranty was up now I am stuck with an expensive piece of junk! Next time I'll buy a Bissell!

Decent machine with 1 major issue it leaks from the time you put water into the tank. And to spend $37 on a replacement tank when it doesnt seem to last past 2 uses just isnt going to happen. This seems to be a major flaw in the system and a recall should be issued and repaired for free. Needless to say Hoover this is a thumbs dow product
