The Hoover story begins in 1907. Murray Spangler, an inventor who worked nights as a janitor, had an asthma problem. He called upon his inventor's creativity to find a solution to the dust that aggravated his asthma as he swept up at night. Spangler gathered a tin soap box, a fan, a sateen pillow case and a broom handle, and assembled an odd-looking, cumbersome contraption that managed to pull the dust away from the air he breathed. He quickly realized that this "suction sweeper," as he called it, had enormous sales potential, and he began seeking financial backing. W.H. "Boss" Hoover, owner of a leather goods manufacturing shop, bought the patent from Spangler in 1908, retained him as a partner, and soon had six employees assembling six units a day in a corner of the leather goods shop. Now that's a humble beginning.

This is the second try, the first went quit working the second use. It was replaced without problems, and the second one works great. We are an animal household, so it gets a lot of use. I recommend this to everyone for value, ease of use, and cleaning thoroughness. The rinse feature alone makes this one stand out from the rest. Great product, well designed. Good value.

i purchased this product about six months ago and of course it quit working three days after my warranty was over...very disappointed ill probably will never buy another hoover product again

I purchased this cleaner in February 2013. We have 4 bedrooms with carpet, this cleaner worked great! I was very very happy with the results! When finished I cleaned the canisters an allowed them to dry then stored the cleaner in a closet . Today got the cleaner out to do the bed rooms again was looking forward to the same results. The brushes will not turn! Nothing has been done to this cleaner other than one use and stored. Very disappointed I will be contacting Hoover Monday morning!!
