Rated 5 out of 5 by daisycutter Arrived as Advertised
Don't understand many of the AJ Madison reviews I've read. The refrigerator arrived as advertised. The sales and customer support staffs were courteous and well informed. The delivery was made within the window stated. I paid $600 less than the bigbox price and saved an additional $100 in sales tax. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from AJM again.

Before commenting on the refrigerator I want to compliment AJ Madison for having excellent service. The people I spoke with on the phone were pleasant and informative. My refrigerator arrived quickly but had a broken crisper door. With no hassle AJ Madison promptly provided a replacement. The refrigerator (actually four appliances) arrived quickly, the delivery people were also friendly and competent (although of course they're contracted by AJ Madison, your mileage may vary). AJ Madison also handled the refrigerator replacement which was a similar experience of customer satisfaction.
The fatal flaw in my experience with the Frigidaire FGUN2642L is that the refrigerator section just wouldn't keep cool enough. Initially it was quite bad and no place in the refrigerator got below 42F. Then I realized that the flap that was supposed to close between the two french doors wasn't adjusted properly so there was a gap between the doors letting the cool air out. After adjusting this the refrigerator preformed better and the bottom of the refrigerator (not the freezer) would get as low as 39F when the thermostat was set to 33F (as low as it goes). This is close to an acceptable temperature for a refrigerator (the factory setting is 37F) however the upper part of the refrigerator would only get to 43F or so. Service people can out several times to try to fix it and replaced parts but the refrigerator never really improved. The two main flaws I experienced were
* Insufficiently cold refrigerator temperatures
* Unacceptable temperature gradient around 5-6F between top and bottom of refrigerator
Presuming that when this model is functioning properly it can generate temperatures that more closely match the thermostat the temperature gradient between the top and bottom of the refrigerator seems like a design characteristic of the model. So even if it is 33F on the bottom of the refrigerator the top will still be close to 40F (maximum recommended refrigerator temperature).
Aside from this fatal flaw the model was good. Strangely the freezer worked well and maintained the temperature of the thermostat. I liked the layout of the model.
Frigidaire did stand behind their product thru the service and replacement period. When they accepted a replacement I was able to get cash back from AJ Madison or store credit. Having had a good experience with AJ Madison before I purchased a LG LFC25776 refrigerator. In general I am much happier with this refrigerator. The temperature gradient between top and bottom of the refrigerator is almost zero, it is quite a bit quieter than the Frigidaire (the noise it makes is a lower frequency hum which could bother some people more but it hasn't been an issue). I'm not sure I like the layout quite as well in the refrigerator section but it's really a minor issue, possibly offset by the fact that the freezer section is a little easier to organize.
Finally I want to comment on the rebates offered by AJ Madison. They expire relatively quickly. So if you're in the middle of a kitchen remodel and aren't going to be installing the appliances right away it is quite possible that by the time you get to unpacking the appliances they rebate redemption period will have elapsed. That frustrated me.

Our LG bit the dust after just 6 years (what a shame) and was beyond repair. Disappointed, we shopped around and landed on this unit from Fridgidaire.
We could not be more pleased. Runs great, looks good and we like it a lot better than the LG.
