SUMMIT Appliance has been a leader in specialty refrigeration and major appliances since 1969. They serve a number of market segments in household, commercial, medical, scientific and professional refrigerators, freezers, ranges and other unique appliances.
SUMMIT's thin-line series of FFBF refrigerator-freezers conserve energy and space but add quality and function with full features, convenient sizes, and ENERGY STAR approved operation.
Designed in Europe, the FFBF units have large bottom freezers with sliding drawers to keep the cold in, even with an open door. Both compartments use frost-free operation for easy maintenance and quality cooling. A single compressor uses 20-45% less energy than required by DOE standards, making them ENERGY STAR rated.
At just 24" wide, the FFBF240W is ideally sized for settings tight on space. It has a deluxe interior with a storage capacity of 11.5 cu. ft. Adjustable glass shelves, two crispers, and door racks leave you plenty of options for storage. It even includes a wine rack for added convenience. Interior lighting and reversible doors are standard and sturdy but elegant aluminum handles complete the package.
This refrigerator uses 380 kWh/yr and has an estimated yearly operating cost of $42.14.
Your operating costs will depend on your utility rates and use. The estimated operating costs is based on a 2011 national average electricity cost of $0.1109 cents per kWh. For more information, visit www.ftc.gov/appliances.

Rated 3 out of 5 by skobola It's OK but has shortcomings
I bought this refrigerator because it fits he 27" wide niche that I have in my kitchen. However, it is loud, the refrigerator portion could be made to be larger on the account of the freezer section (in my case), there is a significant condensate in the refrigerator's back wall, the bottom section is colder than the up section, etc.

I love the look of this, and so far it's doing a great job of refrigerating and freezing, which is pretty much all you want it to do. Two concerns: One is the condensation on the rear wall -- I figure it's normal, because there's a little drainage trough built in. But it's odd, and I sort of wanted the documentation to refer to it, explain it -- and it doesn't.
Second, it runs a little more often than I expected. That worries me ... but I'll wait to see my electric bill.

It fit in a space that opened up the kitchen and replaced a much larger unit.It works like it should but you have to watch what you buy because of size.

The main reason I bought the Summit was to have a bottom freezer and gain more floor space in our small kitchen. That I got. I am delighted with a more open kitchen now that our former behemoth refrigerator has been hauled away. BUT the Summit falls short on some level. In the best of all possible worlds, the Summit would have: Bottom shelf that would accommodate 2 liter bottles. Those are very common these days and there is no place to put them. The door is too tight a squeeze so I have to lay them on their sides on a shelf. Just 1/8 of an inch in door tray width or of the height of the shelf spacing would have been enough to fit those bottles. That would be far more useful than a wine rack--but that's just me. Support system for the drawers. Both crisper and freezer drawers go a bit haywire when you pull them out. You have to carefully guide them with two hands. Not always convenient and should not be necessary if the frig. had been better engineered. The ice drawer would be sturdier. We have only had this model about a month and already the ice drawer is beginning to bow. If it bows any more, it will soon impede the opening of the top portion of the freezer that is a door that pulls down from the top and will be blocked by the lip of the drooping freezer tray. I am unhappy about that development. In general, the plastic drawers/doors seem to be made of an inferior grade of plastic. I worry that it will break so I have been very careful with it . In the course of the day, we all have lots on our minds. Certainly, treating your refrigerator with kids gloves lest the freezer door flip out onto the floor is not on anyone's priority list--nor should it be. I will say that the Summit is much quieter than our old refrigerator. That surprised me since I had read reviews complaining that the motor was loud. I bought it anyway since that was not so important to me. All the same,I am glad it turned out NOT to be loud. I do not like the plastic head piece with the Summit brand name on it that is snapped onto the very top-front of the refrigerator. It looks cheap.Bottom line: I did not want to pay more than about [$] for a mid-size refrigerator with a bottom freezer and a small footprint. The Summit met my requirements. If you need more than that, I would not recommend this product.
