The Hoover story begins in 1907. Murray Spangler, an inventor who worked nights as a janitor, had an asthma problem. He called upon his inventor's creativity to find a solution to the dust that aggravated his asthma as he swept up at night. Spangler gathered a tin soap box, a fan, a sateen pillow case and a broom handle, and assembled an odd-looking, cumbersome contraption that managed to pull the dust away from the air he breathed. He quickly realized that this "suction sweeper," as he called it, had enormous sales potential, and he began seeking financial backing. W.H. "Boss" Hoover, owner of a leather goods manufacturing shop, bought the patent from Spangler in 1908, retained him as a partner, and soon had six employees assembling six units a day in a corner of the leather goods shop. Now that's a humble beginning.

I bought this machine some years ago and have been very happy with it. However, it was missing the hose which attaches to the hand tools. I called customer service today and the lady at the other end found the one that matches the machine and is sending it to me free of cost. Superb customer service!

I purchased this item (Brand new) at a repair facility after the Bissell model I had kept breaking down. That was in March of '09. It ran well until last fall(2012) when I noticed the brushes wouldn't turn(although I used it only 2-3 times a year). When I finally got around to taking it to the repair facility, I found it needed a motor assembly, and turbine. Total cost to repair $210!!!!...... More than I paid for the machine!!

This is our second Hover SteamVac. This new one is just as powerful and cleans as good as the previous. Some of the changes are not so convenient. Overall, a good machine for cleaning a room or stain.
Pros:
Cleans great!
TurboPower scrubbers work good on stains and deep pile carpet.
Also does a great job scrubbing tile, gets the grout clean.
Upright mode is convenient.
Cons:
Changing to Attachment mode is complicated.
Cord seems shorter than previous model.

I purchased this about a year ago to do my area rugs. today i just used it to clean my sofas. I have 4 cats and 1 dog. I cannot believe how beautiful the sofas came out! they are 10 years old. This thing sucked up dirt and pet fur that my vacuum missed! i HIGHLY recommend it. i also have a hoover floor mate that works equally well on our tile floors. it cleans the grout! thank you hoover!!
