Rated 5 out of 5 by Induction for My New Home Too I am sold on induction
Almost 1 year ago, the weekend before Thanksgiving, my spouse was reaching for a bottle of vanilla above our glass cooktop. The bottle fell out of the cabinet, and landed on the cooktop unharmed. The cooktop, on the other hand, shattered at the corner and cracked across two burners. We looked at having the glass replaced, but considering it only cost $650 new, it was not worth it. We had missed having gas ever since we bought the house 6 years prior. We had heard of induction, and our local home store had the EW36CC55G in stock. We were comfortable with the purchase only because it was hybrid and we knew we would still have familiarity and not have to immediately replace all our cookware. Fortunately, with a laminate countertop, adjusting the opening was not too complex and our new cooktop was installed Tuesday evening before Thanksgiving. While preparing Thanksgiving dishes, we soon discovered the true magic of induction cooking. AMAZING control! It potentially surpasses the ease of cooking with gas. Soon after we decided to order a new set of All-Clad. Our new cooktop was the perfect excuse to finally purchase the cookware we had wanted for years. We soon determined that the only thing we should have done differently is get an all induction cooktop. However, if you have any doubts or do not want to purchase new cookware right away, a hybrid is for you. Also, the radiant burners on this unit have significantly better performance than our old Frigidaire. That was a pleasant surprise as well. The only fault I have found is that the two induction burners will not both go to full power at the same time.
Nearly one year later, we have sold our home and moved for a career change. Now we are looking at purchasing the E36IC80ISS All induction cooktop for our new home.
Let me add that I rarely write reviews, let alone one this long. But I feel truly passionate about this appliance and had to counter some of the negative reviews about it.

The cooktop is less than 3 years old and stops working. It had an E04 error on the touch panel. Electrolux tells me the right touch panel computer board needs replaced. They set me up with a local "authorized" repairman. The repairman comes over without the board and charges us $95 for the visit. He could not fix it without the board, duh. Then he says he's not certain it's the right side board. He recommends I purchase all 3 boards for $518. He would replace all 3 boards with an additional $120 for labor or one board at a time for $120 each. I asked if he could bring all 3 boards and try the first one. If it worked, then return the other 2 boards. He said they could not return the boards. Electrolux said the same, they do not refund unused computer boards.
This sounded like a scam to me. I got part number from the board, purchased it from Appliance Parts Pro for $120, they shipped it the next day. I replaced the one board and it worked.
I am not happy with the board failing so fast. I am more upset with the service from Electrolux and Action Appliance in Stuart, FL. They should have replaced the board on the first visit. The guy even cracked the corner of the glass top.
We purchased this cooktop because my wife was not sure how induction burners worked. But now we would only buy induction. They are so much better. Obviously we will not buy Electrolux again. And I would recommend the extended warranty for an electric cooktop.
Also this model has a very poor design on the trim piece. Crumbs are constantly accumulating there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by martha best induction cooker
I have a Bosch cooker and an Electrolux cooker top.
Both are good but the Electrolux induction is much faster and easier to control than the Bosch. It really does take 90 secs to boil water, the Bosch takes longer.
Also the ceramic top is easier to clean on the electrolux.
I took mine to Brazil and had an electrician set it up ,it is a 3 wire system and took him 20 minutes. You do lose the warranty outside the USA !

beware! read your warranty on the white cooktop. electrolux will not cover ANY STAINING or cosmetic scarring. i purchased one in june 2011 and shortly after cooking grease stains could not be removed with 3 different cleaners.
Electrolux sent a warranty company and they tried to remove without success. later the warranty company said they would not pay for the service call and charged me $87.50 becasue it was not covered under the warranty.
the warranty servicer employee tried to convince me that the glass top was the same quality as the GE profile i replaced that i had for 8 years and never stained or scarred. BEWARE!
