Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Go Hybrid! We purchased this unit from AJM in the fall of 2010, so now over two years later, I feel qualified to write this review. First, we've had no maintenance issues whatsoever. I've read other reviews and Electrolux does not always get it right, but we've had no problems with this cooktop or the wall oven bought to complement it in our NYC galley kitchen. While my first preference was gas, we could not get a supply up to our 4th floor apartment and that's when I discoverd induction through research. I knew right away that I was going to have to convert my cookware to stainless steel (All Clad, of course, beautiful) but for some reason I wasn't ready to jump into induction in full. So I went with the hybrid and I am so glad we did. Induction is great for a lot of things, notably rapid boiling and searing. Get the corn water ready in no time. Sear that steak to a T while leaving the interior as rare as you like. I love the rapid adjustability on cooking temps. All in all, a better choice than gas. But the "traditional" elements on our cooktop get a lot of use too. If the dish needs a warming/heat through, the regular radiant coils are better for the task. Hot as all blazes, we rarely cook on the radiant side above 2.8 on a scale of 10. Again, if you need to boil water, move it over to the hybrid side. The stainless trim is a bit of a downside. Not only is it prone to scratching from normal use, it does limit some of the larger pots. Not a big turnoff but they now offer a black trim version and I would have gone that way if I could. I find cleaning a bit of a chore but insist on keeping the top in showroom condition. Windex or other specialized sprays work for daily cleaning after use, but I polish it with CeramaBryte at least once every couple of weeks. Again, the trim pieces require some digging to get the corners clean, but overall not a big deal. 12/27/12
