Rated 5 out of 5 Strong Silent Type After installing this down draft fan I was disappointed because it was so quiet and I didn't think it was working that well. But while sauteing onions and garlic I could not smell anything in the kitchen. I went outside to where the blower was venting and the smell about knocked me down. It works very well and is way quieter than our previous downdraft. Comes in handy if you like to carry on a conversation while you cook...like my wife does. The large blower mounted outside is the secret. It also give you more space beneath the cook top than a conventional down draft. The 10" high tower is also very effective at capturing the smells, especially from larger pots. The price is high but it is a worthwhile upgrade from a standard down draft. Now I wish they had an exhaust fan for the oven and microwave. 9/29/11
