Years and years of certain brand appliances I took the plunge and purchased the GE Cafe slide in stove, and so far so good! Really looking forward to purchasing the matching counter depth refrigerator.

All of the elements on the cook top provide accurate, even heat, the warmer element is especially useful both as a warmer and as an additional cooking element. The convection oven holds temperature evenly and is very accurate, no more turning the cookie sheets or cake pans halfway through the cooktime. Roasts and braised dishes come out excellent. I have not used the bottom baking drawer yet but I know it will be put to good use as a warming drawer or a place to bake the rolls when we have a crowd over for dinner. I wish that the designers of the range would have made the timer alarm much, much louder. Or, how about this, with all the on board electronics this range already has, couldn't you provide a programmable volume control for the alarm? I also do not use the cast iron griddle that came with the range; I'm just too worried about dropping that heavyweight on the glass top. I have been using an Emeril non-stick griddle which spans the two left side burners and that works just great for making large breakfasts. The control that combines the two burners maintains an even temperature for the entire griddle. I researched a wide variety of ranges from different manufacturers and I am very satisfied with my decision to purchase the GE Cafe range.

The ovens are the only good thing about this appliance. The main oven heats quickly; maintains temperature; the convection feature is excellent. The baking drawer takes longer to heat, as the manual states, but it also works well and adds a lot of convenience.
A certain consumer magazine claimed the range elements heat well at high and low settings. Forget about it. You have to set a burner at High or you'll wait a long time before cookware is ready. Then crank it way back to avoid burning or over-boil.
The instruction manual is confusing and badly written.
But the worst thing about this appliance, and the reason I won't recommend it, is the control panel; it's mounted flat and at waist level. That's a design that's just asking for inadvertent contact. Because they're in a flat plane, it's easy to brush against them while using the cook top. You can lock the digital controls only when the oven ISN'T in use. If the oven IS on, you can accidentally turn it off. If you don't hear the little "beep", you won't realize it. You can also reset the timer by mistake. Either issue can ruin dinner. The mechanical range controls aren't immune from this. On two occasions, a heating element turned on when I, again, leaned against the front of the range, pushing and turning the control.

This range is just fantastic! Cooks like a dream!! Heats up very fast and cooks evenly! The options on top of the range are just great! You can cook in any type of pot. You can keep an item warm on top of the range at the same time you are heating up another item. The grill is just wonderful. I am totally enjoying this range!
