With much trepidation, I dropped a large amount of money on this refrigerator after determining that it was pretty much the only freestanding refrigerator that was TRULY counter depth and that was the right size for my kitchen.
I have to say, it is BEAUTIFUL. It sits perfectly flush with our kitchen cabinets. I like this version with a single door better than the French door style, because I can see the entire fridge contents by opening just one door instead of two. The interior details are also lovely. The LED lighting is very bright and it is just so easy to find things.
The freezer drawers are very handy too. You do get less storage space than with a traditional fridge/freezer combo, but it's very easy to find things in the drawers. We opted to pop out the ice maker in return for more storage. (We don't use much ice, so a couple of ice cube trays take up less room.)
Now for the bad part: a few days after we received this unit, the refrigerator stopped working. It slowly heated up until it was nearly at room temperature. I called Liebherr and they sent a work order to a local repair company. The repair company came out the next day, but by the time they got the part they needed, and factoring in the weekend, etc., our fridge was out of commission for five days. The problem was a defective part that allowed the refrigerant to leak out. The repairman professed surprise, saying that he had never seen something like that on one of these fridges before. He said it was most likely a manufacturing defect, and not due to damage caused by shipping.
The good news was that our freezer continued to work, since this model has dual compressors. And the repair was of course covered under warranty. But I am still surprised and disappointed that such an expensive refrigerator failed during the first week we had it!
Other than that initial problem, which I hope never happens again, we are quite happy with this refrigerator.
Oh, it's hard to tell from the online info, but this model has stainless steel on both the front and sides, and the steel is magnetic.
