Rated 4 out of 5Â by TechFem50 Great for small kitchens
I've had this refrigerator for over a year and am very happy with it. The only issue has been replacing the two door handles yet they were very fast in getting the parts to me. At over $4100, this is not something I would have expected.
Pros:
Small foot print and works great in tiny spaces
Great for someone who only keeping about 4 to 5 days worth of food on hand.
Quiet
Makes Ice very fast and refills what you take out
Energy efficent
Keeps it's temperature setting
Cons:
Won't be able to overfill it easily
Limited space for freezing
Very easy to have the drawers slip out and get damaged.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by Nick Inferior German Engineering Product
we bought the 1661 to replace a Subzero which would have cost substantially more. While its appearance is excellent, it has many faults which I have listed in the Cons category. The inside is quite spacious (more than equivalent US products since it is taller) and can be configured to your preferences. In addition, there is ample room on the inside of the door, including half gallon containers of milk. The wine bottle rack is a real space saving plus. The ice maker makes about 40 tiny ice cubes over a 24 hour period, which may be enough for German but not for US consumer. The worst problem is the closing of the refrigerator door. Unless it is closed with the right amount of pressure, it tends to stay ajar, which of course results in warm temperatures and frosting of items inside the compartment. There is a warning signal that does come on after a period of time; however, you may have long left by that time. All in all, one can say that the refrigerator/freezer works ok, but there are too many things that are either poorly engineered or thought out. I would recommend this product only to replace a Subzero as it uses almost exactly the same amount of space.

First a word on service:
Our unit did not work out of the box and it took us two weeks to get an authorized repairman out to the house. We worked through the US rep for Liebherr, ADCO, and they were not very helpful or accommodating. They placed the service call days after we originally filed the claim and, when we did not hear from the local repairman for days, essentially told us to wait until we did. Needless to say, we are not pleased with their service. Of course, all that was needed was to re-connect one wire behind the control panel!
Now on to the appliance:
We integrated this refrigerator into our new cabinets for a built-in appearance, which is very sleek. It is taller and narrower than a comparable US refrigerator. The difference in layout (e.g., there's only one drawer in the refrigerator) and overall capacity has required some adjustments in what and how we store food but we're getting more comfortable with each passing day. The bottom freezer with individual compartments is very efficient but space is tight and it can be a hassle to get items in and out.

Rated 5 out of 5 Take THAT, SubZero!
This refrigerator is as good as a SubZero at 2/3 the price or less, AND the free-standing model I purchased fits nicely in my cramped floor-plan without sacrificing cubic feet, thanks to being counter-depth and VERY tall. The only con I can come up with is that the only "feature" offered is an ice-maker (no ice/water dispensing, etc). Not a concern for ME (it's just something else to require service, in my opinion), but someone may want those types of features.
I am EXTREMELY satisfied - and their delivery was faster than I was ready for! I ordered it Wednesday and it was delivered Friday, 150 miles away!
