Featuring many premium features, the CS1640 offers Liebherr's signature stainless steel with a SmartSteel finish front and European styling. As a value alternative, the unit is cabinet depth and can fit easily into an existing space, for the look of a built-in without building in. To make installation even easier and providing the option to place the unit anywhere in the kitchen, there's no need for water connection for the IceMaker. We've had our Liebherr for almost two years now. We originally bought it because it was the only fridge that would fit into our tiny kitchen -- and the turning radius of the door hinges is indeed incredible, but we've come to love it for other reasons:
1) It is incredibly quiet! We barely notice it.
2) Energy efficient - our meters show it exceeds the ratings in the Liebherr listings.
3) Interior space is ingeniously designed in both the refrigerator and freezer compartments. Things don't get lost in the back like other fridge units. And the separate freezer drawers in the freezer compartment make organizing a snap.
4) Ice maker is also quiet.
Don't be put off by what appears to be a small interior, the design actually means it has more storage space than our previous 25 cu ft fridge.

A nicely designed unit for those not wanting to spend $7k for a sub-Zero. Performs very well, but corner cutting to hit a price point can take away from the perception and reality of quality. Still not cheap at $3,000+ it boggles the mind that there is no light in the freezer or that the freezer draws scream "Be gentle I break easily!" Hard to find an alternative at this price point. Nicely engineered.
