Experience The Latest Revolution In Room Cooling: The Friedrich Breeze
Breeze, a new easy-to-install, two-piece air conditioner (called a ductless split system), keeps it simple. Choose from 2 sizes - small or large - and whether to install it through-the-wall or through-the-window. Breeze will even reach a 2nd floor or basement. And because of its revolutionary design, you can take it with you if you move. Top these convenience factors off with ultra-high efficiency variable capacity performance and remarkably quiet operation, and it's easy to see where Breeze gets its name. Available at AJ Madison.

Breeze Simplicity
Unlike other air conditioners that have to be precisely sized, Breeze comes in two capacities: small and large. The small system works well for spaces that are 100 - 550 square feet and the large system is designed for spaces that are from 550 to 1500 square feet. Each system will automatically adjust to your needs. And, the entire system comes with everything you need in just one box: the indoor unit with the 25' quick-connect line, the outdoor unit, outdoor unit mounting pad, hardware, and LCD remote control. The box has even been specially designed to fit through narrow doorways. Best of all, the installation is a snap. Breeze. It's that easy.

Breeze Quiet
Breeze systems are quieter than window or thru-the-wall units because the compressor noise is outside in the condenser unit. All you hear indoors is the fan. And, outdoor noise intrusion is also minimized because the small window and wall openings can be well insulated.

Breeze Installation
The revolutionary, patent-pending quick connect line set makes installation faster and easier than many other room air conditioner solutions. You'll spend less time getting the system up and running.

Breeze Flexibility
Breeze works in some places where other air conditioners can't be installed - interior rooms and rooms without windows or outside walls. Installation options are numerous: thru-the-wall, thru-the-window, rooms without windows, basements, second floors, even some attics.

Breeze Mobility
Unlike traditional ductless split systems, Breeze can be disconnected and moved. Remarkably, this is one split system that you can take with you.

Breeze Efficiency
Breeze takes energy efficiency to a whole new level with variable capacity Inverter Technology. A large Breeze unit can function as a 12,000 BTU unit or as a 24,000 BTU unit or anywhere in between. It can switch capacities as you need it to so that it's always operating as efficiently as possible.

The Advantages Of Inverter Technology
Breeze features variable speed compressors and fans (called Inverter Technology), which reach the desired temperature faster, maintain it more accurately and reduce energy consumption with fewer compressor startups.

Breeze Comfort
Breeze is comfort. Continuous air sweep and 4 fan speeds distribute air throughout the space. And Breeze has multiple operating modes including cooling, dehumidification, fan only, heat and auto which will switch between cooling and heating as needed to maintain the desired temperature.

Breeze Style
The Breeze indoor unit comes in a light, neutral color so it can blend in with its surroundings and the outdoor unit is sleek and attractive but small enough to conceal if desired.

How to Choose a Room Air Conditioner
Compared to large capacity central units, room air conditioners have several advantages. The initial cost of a room air conditioning unit is significantly lower than the cost of central air. Because room air conditioners are designed for cooling small spaces, operating costs are reduced. And, room air conditioners can provide personalized temperature and humidity controls that central systems cannot.

Calculating Cooling Capacity
Cooling capacity is the critical factor in properly selecting a room air conditioner. Cooling capacity is measured in British Thermal Units (BTUs) and typical models will range in capacity from 5,000 BTUs to 28,500 BTUs.

Choosing an undersized unit will overwork the unit and it will not cool properly. Choosing an oversized unit will cost more to buy and operate and it will not dehumidify properly.

We can help you to calculate capacity. Be prepared to provide specific information on:
  • Room Dimensions
  • A simple floor plan to show the location of doors and north-facing windows
  • The number of people it will serve
  • Sources of heat such as lamps, TV and appliances
  • An explanation of what's above the intended room
  • Your insulation provisions

Cooling Capacity by Room Size
Measure the length and width of the area to be cooled. Multiply the length by the width to determine square footage or square meters. When cooling rooms with uninsulated ceilings, great rooms, or southern or western sun exposures - step up to the next BTU size.

Product Reviews
Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not a breeze to install Because the line set is a predetermined length and per-wrapped in insulation it makes installation difficult. Bending the lines so the unit sits flush to the wall is very hard. The design where the line set tucks behind the air handler was poorly throght out. If you place the condensing unit close tho the air handler you end up with extra line set coil the looks untidy. Technical support from Friedrich is awful ( I called to make a simpl inquiry), the rep s knew very little about HVAC. 7/5/13
Rated 5 out of 5 by hushed coverage You hate the window neanderthal monstrosity--its merciless invasion of privacy? Well, go through the hole in the wall and put the machinery outside. My indoor unit hangs no more than 8 feet from my place at the kitchen table. I can hardly hear it when its not on turbo. It serves all the square feet it says it will cover easily. The coverage is uniform across the room. My son and I installed it but bending the 3-inch diameter tube is not as easy as the instructions say. The inside unit did not easily hide the tube. 7/22/13
Rated 5 out of 5 by AC I have had this unit for just under a month. So far, it appears exactly as described and performance is excellent with quiet operation. I had my handy man install it and for him it was very easy. Though he had one issue with the bend in the tubing in the back of the unit. It cools exceptionally well in a 10' x 20' studio with moderate insulation. This is during Texas summer heat of up to 100 degrees last week. One note: I do have two ceiling fans. Having this unit for such a a short time, it is hard to make a full review but this is our experience so far. I am very happy with it. 8/5/13
Rated 2 out of 5 by Can't recommend Let me start by saying I have a lot of building experience (multiple houses) and I manage tech support for complicated specialty electronics, but my thoughts on this unit will apply for any average home-owner. ANYONE can hook this thing up. It's so easy -- super design. Also, the unit is super quiet (basically imperceptible even on higher settings.) and it produces nice cold air. I can't say it's quite as strong as the 12,000 BTU window unit we have, but it's close enough. It's also silent OUTSIDE the house as well -- important because we had to put it so close to our neighbor's house. You could set this on your deck. I'm thrilled with that. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 on performance because I'm not sure it can quite match our $300 12,000 BTU window unit in cooling power (but that unit is so loud that you can't sleep with it). I also love that we didn't have to hire a technician to install the unit. In our area, the price quotes were ludicrous -- THOUSANDS of dollars to do a connection that they told me would be done in "a few hours". So I think Friedrich is definitely onto something if they can fix the problems.... And the problems are too many! Overall installation of the unit and final appearance are (unnecessarily) horrible. It will lower the resale value of your house significantly unless we can hide them. Also, the instructions don't match from one section to another. The "template" they provide you DOES NOT MATCH the screw holes of the actual unit. Why bother to provide a template then? Worse, the 3 inch hole you have to drill in the side of your wall is DEFINITELY in the wrong place on the template. It should probably be an off-set hole, that would be best (We redrilled it and that helped but now I have a much bigger hole in the side of our house). As it is... you end up with this HUGE hunk of pipe sticking out the side of your house that makes it look like you had a fire and the firemen just gave up and left, leaving hoses sticking WAY out the side of your house. Also the clamps that are supposed to hold the hose from sliding down the house DO NOT do so. So you have to come up with some creative way to keep from exerting too much pressure on the internal connection (and tweaking the internal unit from slanting and looking even more odd than it does) without pinching the pipes. These are just sized wrong. Why don't they just send you the right parts? Plan on HOURS of installation time with 4 people... and it will still look embarrassingly bad, inside and out. The Friedrich installation video is a complete scam. We fiddled with it for a couple days and got the inside looking... just "sort of bad" (we'll build a frame around it) but the outside can never look good. And it's so unnecessary if they just thought about it a bit more!! All of us doing the install are just amazed at how NO THOUGHT or conscientious care went into what should have been the "easy" part of this $1600 product. Coming up with their brilliant connection was awesome, but then why spoil it with a complete lack of attention to the rest of the install! Even the plastic cover to keep your kids from shocking themselves with open electronics 2 feet off the ground doesn't fit NOR do the screws! Are you kidding me? For $1600 could someone have picked the right 5 cent screw? I would warn any friend from buying this unit. It's hundreds of dollars overpriced even AFTER hiring a (reasonably priced) technician to do the work for you (good luck finding a reasonable one though) but I could actually accept overpaying. It's that they totally botched everything after the coolant pipe connection and didn't seem to care to think how it would look. We are going to try to cover up the "fire hose" with a VERY large fake bat box off the side of our house or something to cover it. It's just heinous. 8/5/13
