A KITCHEN HOOD CAN DO MORE THAN VENT AIR
When co-founder Alex Siow seized on the idea that everything in the home is an opportunity for personal expression, he began by elevating the hood to its rightful place: no longer an afterthought, the hood stands above all, as distinctive in its performance as it is in its beauty.
Since the launch of their first hoods in 1997, they have remained true to their vision of delivering the unexpected-by deliberately seeking to change the marketplace. Alex was first to recognize the unmet demand for more powerful, professional-grade hoods in the home. And they answered with the Power series, high-CFM performers that put air quality concerns to rest with quiet efficiency-and raised the bar with self-cleaning, filter-free technologies never before available.
After putting the power back into ventilation, the Europa line ushered in a new millennium with a style-forward clarion call to those who could find little inspiration above the range. Since then they have taken their vision ever higher, working with some of the world's best designers to find beauty in the everyday and create collections that are truly unlike any other.
Like California's Fu-Tung Cheng, the kitchen and bath design guru who has inspired millions with his books and ideas. And Italy's acclaimed Elica design team, featuring the renowned Bang + Olufsen designer David Lewis, who contributes his radically innovative aesthetic to a collection of daring works that never go unnoticed.
It's all for you. Look beyond the expected, and together, they'll discover new possibilities.
When they streamlined the under-cabinet design of Tempest I, they set out to maximize efficiency and eliminate the hassles. So they added powerful blower options and new ways to make sure all you have to think about is the cooking. Stylish touch controls. An optional heat lamp kit. And industrial-strength, high-airflow baffle filters that are dishwasher-safe to ensure a lifetime of exceptional performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by willie excellent
We had and over the range microwave that exhausted poorly. Always had to wipe off steam in front. We purchased the 30"Zephyr SS hood and had it installed professionally. The SS backsplash came later, and the installer was able to insert it by just loosening & re-tightening the hood. I bought 2 plastic trim pieces at Home Depot for $1.25 ea. and trimmed up the sides of the backsplash & hood look even better. We have 7" horizontal ducting, that if you stand under it will blow dry your hair at the lowest setting and it's a 18 foot run from the hood. Best thing we ever did with this purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by aigredoux Looks great; works ok
I debated between this Zephyr Tempest AK7000AS and a Kobe. I preferred the Kobe but this Tempest size (length) was a better fit for my kitchen. Ordered sight unseen and delivery was no problem. Zephyr hood looks great - the stainless steel is shiny, not brushed, and there's no Zephyr label on the front, unlike what the stock photo shows. The label is actually discreetly imprinted on the back. Installation was not the easiest but I expected that. There are two levels of lighting which is very helpful. Now for the actual venting performance. I would rate that to be fair. It really is quite loud, even on the lowest setting, but that doesn't bother all that much. It does a fine enough job of venting, but seems to require plenty of makeup air. Overall I'm fine with this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Shelbyfan had in old house
I had this hood in my old house and it is great. IT works well but it is not as quiet as my current Fagor hood or the Wind Crest my friend has. I did not like the controls much. I get grease in the buttons. Hard to clean that off but.... The filters were great. Stuck them in the dishwasher and it got clean. I like the lights. If your in the market for a hood of this style, it is not a bad choice. I would also look at Wind Crest which is close in price and not sold here. My friend loves her Wind Crest. Having said that, Zephyr is a nice looking hood that works well.
