I had the exact same issue as "NJ Family man". First off, no complaint here about, AJ Madison.
My panel with the buttons fell off of the range hood and all the plastic parts melted and warped. This all happened in less than 18 months of regular use. I called ZEPHYR customer service and one EXTREMELY RUDE representative kept insisting that my stove was "too powerful". It's a regular, mid priced home stove with 4 burners. In my opinion, ZEPHYR is garbage. I wasted $300 on something i thought was worth it. IT'S NOT WORTH IT.

This rating is only for Zephyr AK1200. At the same time I had bought a range (GE Profile PGS975SEPSS) and a refrigerator (Summit FFBF285SS). The overall experience with AjMadison has been PERFECT.\
They matched the price of a competitor.

I liked the look and performance of this product when initially installed according to specs. by a licensed electrician. I have a normal oven/stove - not a super-powered commercial model. It is a conventional residential model with four burners on the stove top. After a few months the control panel in the hood started to become loose. Then it started to drop away from the hood. It ultimately melted to the point where it hung approximately 5 inches below where it mounted to the hood!!! Eventually I tried to work on it myself and upon examining it realized the plastic parts on the inside of the hood were melting/warping. I contacted Zephyr. They were responsive to my complaint and sent me new replacement parts. I am a handy guy, so I installed them myself, but I have to tell you, it was not easy. No directions were sent with the replacement parts so I had to use my control panel disassembly as the guide for my replacement parts reassembly. Zephyr was nice to send me the replacement parts, but the bottom line is they should fix this defect so the problem we experienced does not affect others.
