Uncover what's cooking inside an Aga
Beneath the classic looks of every Aga is a heart of cast iron: the entire cooker is an outstandingly efficient energy store, steadily transferring the heat from its core into its ovens and hotplates. An Aga is always ready to cook instantly and there are no switches and dials because the Aga looks after itself. Thermostatic control maintains consistent temperatures while high levels of insulation within the outer casing and beneath the Hotplate covers ensure that every Aga uses fuel economically. The Aga releases a unique source of gentle, friendly warmth into your kitchen.
The Aga Six-Four Series is a kitchen essential for anyone fueled by hosting family and friends. Its unique combination of 6 gas burners and 4 electric ovens will not only help you prepare multiple dishes simultaneously, but will give you more time to enjoy the pleasure of cooking, and the results.

Having owned a Legacy in cooler climes, we bought a 6-4 when we moved south. Big mistake! Ovens are smaller, so only quarter-sized pans and 12lb turkeys work. Ovens are not self-cleaning.
All of this I was comfortable to live with, but then the controller went out - five months ago! We have not been able to get the necessary part to fix. Instead, my husband has been met with silence and/or rudeness when he inquires. AGA told him this range is no longer under manufacture! CAVEAT EMPTOR!

Rated 3 out of 5Â by InTheWoods AGA Six Four. Pretty, but that's about it
We have an AGA Six Four. It's a stunning piece of work--hands-down, the best looking stove on the market. The question is, how does it cook? The burners are great for heat output. Honestly, I use the two on the right side for 90%, with the wok burner used occasionally and a simmer burner for keeping something bubbling along. The pan supports, while fine for larger pans, really don't do the job for smaller pans or tea kettles, so be very careful. The burners are a nightmare to clean--everything comes apart, but it's a 20-minute minute job minimum to get your stovetop back to looking sparkling.
The ovens--the idea that there are four makes some styles of cooking really easy--like dinner parties with mutliple courses for a small number. You can't, for example, fit a reasonably-sized pizza in, and you have to be very careful about the sizes of cookie sheets. Honestly, the big issues with the ovens is the reliability. We've had the controller go out, inexplicably, twice. It's a $200+ part. Contact with the manufacturer results in very terse replies, such as: "Parts are covered by a 90-day warranty" So, bottom line, without the control box, the convection oven doesn't work, and we're not about to feed a $200/6 month habit. It's a shame, too, she sure is pretty.
